Our friend Maya is leaving for Australia soon! Because we'll miss her so much, we want to celebrate her before she leaves. We're going to throw her a going away party, and we're going to make her a present for her half birthday. To learn more about where Maya will be living, we read a book about some of the animals in Australia, including the koala, the kangaroo, and a baby kangaroo - a Joey.
While Ellee worked diligently on her ornament sewing project, she chatted with Joci and Lila.
Joci - How does Santa know if we are not going to be home for Christmas?
Ellee - It’s a mystery. Something that you need to solve.
Lila - He’s a genius. I’m so smart that I know how to sew.
Ellee - If I travel then I may not have a Christmas tree, if I travel to Poopy’s (Grandpa's)house.
Lila - (looking at Ellee’s sewing) It reminds me of a map.
Outside today, we tried a new game: SARDINES! It's a variation on hide and seek in which only one player hides, and the rest of the group (after counting to twenty) looks for them. When any of the "lookers" find the "hider", they hide with them and wait. This continues until all the players have met in the hiding place. When the last person arrives, we like to yell, "Surprise!!" Sometimes this game can lead to some very squished hiding places...
