"Let’s make it realistic . . . realistic is thinking of something that’s real and using your imagination to build it."  Ellee

Carl's birthday committee continued their work on his pirate ship today.   Jay was in charge of the cannons.  Lila, the crow's nest and sails, and Ellee, the treasure chest with treasures.

Joci - What about the figurehead?
Ellee - How about a skeleton?
We look at skeleton figureheads on Google but the children all agree that the skeleton would be too hard to make.
Ellee - Let’s just make it.
Joci - Why don’t you draw it first, Ellee?
Ellee draws Captain Hook.  Then we look for an image of Captain Hook on the computer.
Ellee - Let’s make it realistic.  It doesn’t mean drawing it first.  Realistic is thinking of something that’s real and using your imagination to build it.
Joci - (while Lila works on the crow's nest) Why do pirates need a crow’s nest?
Ellee – Storms, sharks, or police and that’s why I love mermaids because they save humans sometimes because Ariel loves to save humans but her father says no because he thinks it's dangerous.
Ellee - (later) Let’s paint the treasures so they look real.
Lila - I’m making the bullets that go in the cannons.  Lots of bullets, bullets, bullets, bullets.
Lila looks at an image of cannon balls piled up in a pyramid shape.  She builds them up this way.
Ellee - They take the canons out and put them in the canon and shoot them.  (later) We were so focused on this that we haven’t made the pirates.  (then) We can use these as the canon balls – they’re so round.  (then) A fire ruby! It’s just the shape.
Jay looks at the Jolly Roger image and makes the figurehead.
Ellee - He has stuff in his eyes and a really scary nose.

Tucker Room friends were SO happy to be back together after a long 4 day weekend!  Willa was away for a whole week and when she returned today, Prater ran up to her and gave her a huge hug.  Then Cassius said, "How was Louisiana, Willa?"  Willa shared at meeting, "I have treasures from Louisiana."
