Starting our day with Yoga and Games...
Because of the rain, we started our Backwards Day indoors where we practiced several yoga poses by going on an imaginary journey. We transformed into animals like a cat and then a cow, and even a frog (we hopped in the air SO high!) We turned into a seed which then grew into a little sprout, then a baby tree, and finally a big, tall strong tree. All the while the tree was growing, the wind tried to blow us down, but the tree just grew stronger and stronger. Then we were boats, sailing on the open sea. We grabbed the hand of our mat partner and pressed our feet together, then rocked back and forth like a boat rocking on the waves. We finished our poses by getting into child's pose and focusing on our breathing. Then, it was time for our favorite yoga game: musical mats! When the music played, we jumped, twirled, and danced our way around the room. When the music stopped, we struck a pose on a mat. As the game progressed, the number of mats grew less and less until finally the whole class had to find a spot on just one mat! Carl chose to do a karate pose. He said, "Karate is a lot about balance."

Friends looked in their mailboxes for messages and wrote back. Lucy's list included Grace, Hadley, Mama, and Jack.
