Today in the studio, Carl's birthday committee (Lila, Ellee, and Jay) met to create something out of clay for their friend. Carl helped the group come up with a gift - a pirate ship. First they brought the new bag of clay from the hallway - so heavy!! Then they researched images of pirate ships online. Next, they rolled out a flat slab and carried it to the table. Finally, they sculpted the walls of the boat.
Outside, we brought the letters out from the shed to practice spelling and sounding out names! Others like Mac and Lucy made "cake" by mixing outdoor materials. We enjoyed ourselves despite the rainy weather!
Our special guest today, Caroline, brought a small group to Blake Hall. Their mission was to find out how long one Thanksgiving Feast table would be, and thus, how many Thanksgiving centerpieces we will need to make. The group used two methods for measuring:
