In the classroom, a small group participated in a yoga experience. In this exercise, one child is carefully wrapped up in the yoga mat, like a caterpillar in a cocoon. Below you can see Alex's friends patting and pressing gently into the mat to make him more comfortable.
Then, the child is unwrapped by their friends. As Rose slowly unwrapped Hadley, she put her hand on the mat to steady Hadley's movement and said, "She was going too fast so I slowed her down." Once Hadley was free, she flew off like a beautiful butterfly!
This type of yoga exercise helps calm children by providing support and pressure on their bodies, making them feel safe. Many said they didn't want to get unrolled! Group yoga helps children learn to be gentle and supportive with one another.
