Children were so excited to be back at school with their friends. At morning meeting, everyone talked about their winter break; some friends shared instruments they got from Santa. When we asked Rose to describe her ukulele, Cassius said, "She played it to describe it." Rose then said it sounded "screechy."
Changes have been made to the construction/dramatic play areas and the children made many observations. Objects collected over the past several weeks that make sounds are now grouped together on shelves under the window. Friends experimented with these objects today. Alex played "drums," while Rose and Hadley looked for "scratching" sounds.
Maya's "swirly white"
Willa - I need to put a lot of white so this can be a lot of light.
Alex's four colors, named "Alligator, wolf, crocodile, bear."
Willa, experimenting with her paintbrush on the bumpy cardboard surface, said:
"Look, I made a sound with color."
Then she showed her friends what she had discovered.
