This week, Bruno had the idea to make a disco ball.  Today we used hot glue, mod podge, duct tape, sequins, and other silver things to make a sparkly ball for our disco dancing parties.

We discussed a Job Chart at morning meeting.

Hadley – I think we should make up a magic list for who ever sets up snack like in KW.
Joci – Well, we will have a magic list for our jobs, too.  So snack set-up is a job?  You know when you come into school and before morning meeting, you can even start setting up snack.  You can even help pick out the snack.
Alex – Mailman
Hadley – Deliver all the messages.
Joci – Do some people like delivering their own messages to the new post office?
All – Yeah
Joci – So do we need this job?
All – No
Ellee – Stage number . . . someone who tells which number for the stage . . . which amount of people for the stage.  It could be a job for someone to tell them – a theater number job.
Hadley – We could have a calendar for the amount of people that could do stuff.
Joci - Do we need a line leader?  When we go home or outside.
Alex – Let’s do it in alphabetical order.
Joci – Okay well sometimes we can, but usually we look at our magic list and see whose turn it is.  We’ll show you the magic list and you can help us with it.
Alex names all the people at meeting in random order.
Maya – You could put some initials on paper and then when it’s your turn to be leader, the person can go first.

Lila brought a musical instrument today... a recorder!  Does anyone else have instruments at home they'd like to show?

Yesterday we had an experience with a new instrument - a trumpet!

We also asked "What is a calendar?"
Jay – That’s how you know what day it is.
Joci - What else does it tell you besides the days?
Hadley – Birthdays, like there’s July.  It’s my birthday.  And other people’s birthdays are different times.
We look at October on the calendar.
Joci - Who’s birthday is this month in October?
All - Bruno!
Joci - October 23rd.  Can we have a symbol for people’s birthdays to put on the calendar?
Prater – Balloons
Hadley – Cake
Mac – A pool
Ellee – Friends
Joci – Okay we can decide together what it will be.  A symbol is something that stands for something else.  Like with a birthday symbol we will know it’s somebody’s birthday on that day.
Cassius - You have to write Ellee’s birthday.
Hadley - But we can’t read yet.  We don’t know how.
Joci - But you know each other’s names.
Prater – What if we forget which one is whose?
Joci – So how else will we know the difference?
Mac – We could put their symbol on the day.

Bruno and Prater climbed almost to the top of the tree!  They said, "We're gonna stay here for a long time . . . maybe weeks."
