Mystery Guest Presents:
A Visiting Scientist from National Geographic

"I have 80 hundred million questions!" - Cate

What is a species?
It's a family of a kind of animal - James

Jonathan Baillie (Wolf in the Brown Room's dad) is the cheif scientist at National Geographic and he came in this morning to talk to the children about how to save species of animals and to tell us a little bit about how the planet works and what we can do to protect it for generations to come...
Prior to the presentation, the children began thinking about specific questions related to Jonathan's important work and expeditions:
How can you breathe on Mount Everest? - Elena
How do save an animal? - James
Did you see any animals on Mount Everest?- Lily
What kind of animals do you save? - Maisie
What do you do/how do you get them to the vet? - Hugh
How do you give them water when you’re in Mount Everest?- Lily
What do you do if you can’t find any animals?- Tegan
Where have you explored? - Elena
How many animals have you saved? - Hugh
Have you saved a lion before? - Cate
Have you saved a killer whale? - Tommy

Thank you so much for joining us at the

helping us spread the joy! The children
remarked specifically on the effort,
creativity, and enthusiasm that they
expressed during the making of this
project and we are thrilled that we
were able to share it all with you and
the whole St. John’s community.

Hugh asked, “How can we make this go
public?”…independent movie-maker
awards?!

A Welcome Message for the New, Incoming Brown Room Children

Picture
Picture
From the thoughtful input for a welcoming sentiment to the physical task of writing the letters, along with the cognitive process involved in letter recognition and spelling,  the children created a beautiful message for incoming BR  children.

"Maisie, you have to tell me what the letters are!" -Tegan

Picture

Dagny takes reads letters aloud to Tegan as she writes them out. "S..." -Dagny
"Can I just show you the difference between an S and a 3... A 3 goes a 'c' and then a 'c' that goes the same way and then an 's' goes a 'c' and then 'c' the other way....

I never realized that."  -Tegan
