"Post Office Rainey Room Go" (Max's title for today's post *no pun intended)
After returning to the classroom for snack, the children gathered around to help us write the blog...
This morning all of the Rainey Room friends took a special field trip to the local Georgetown neighborhood post office! The children worked so hard on creating beautiful and thoughtful holiday cards for all their families and we thought what a better way to experience yet another part of the neighborhood than to take a trip to the post office to send our cards in the mail!
Along the way we saw mailboxes, "blue post office mailboxes" explains max. Caleb saw "cheese on wheels" he says, explaining that its the name for a yellow car. Maisie says that she saw pink flowers along the way. Elena describes the Christmas trees that she saw along the way and says they looked purple/blue! Will says that he saw a crane and James saw it "actually move!!!!"
When we got to the post office we gave our letters to a man explains Will and the man put "the stamps on it." After Jonathan the post man weighed and stamped all our envelopes, "we put them in the post!" explains Vivienne. "You mean the mailbox," says Will. "The letters are gonna come to our houses!" announces Maisie excitedly!
Look out over the next few days for your holiday card to arrive in the mail!
A big thank you to Abby for joining us on our trip to the post office! And what a surprise to have Abby meet us again later in the morning for Mystery Reader!
Abby read What the Moon is Like and the children shared some of their ideas: "Did you know that the moon moves?" -Zarina "The earth is always spinning around!" - Cate "They can carry big rocks! Cause there’s no water to play and no sand and no crocodiles!" - Elena "It's when you kind've kick rocks, the dust comes out"- Max explains to Elena when she asks what dust is. "And everything changes in the sky because weather changes!"- James
