MYSTERY GUEST:
Nick Snyder Shares About NYC

"I thought a lot about
what I was going to talk to everyone about today." -Nick

Picture
We welcomed Nick Snyder today as our Mystery Guest! While there are many possibilities of what to do or share as mystery guest, sharing a place you were born and raised is a great idea! As we all know these children love going places, traveling, adventure, cities, and simply building!

"So I thought I would talk to you about the city where I grew up," said Nick.

Does anyone know where the Statue of Liberty is?" -Nick

New York! New York! New York! The children all called out.

"New York is a town that never sleeps." -Hugh

Picture
In addition to sharing with the children about the Statue of Liberty--a symbol of freedom, the Empire State Building--the tallest building, Central Park-- where there are a lot of trees, the Natural History Museum--which holds so much history of animals and other living things, and even about bridges, and aircraft carriers, Nick also read. Thank you so much, Nick! Now we know who to ask if we have any follow up questions or curiosities about the city of New York!

Finding an earthworm begins the day, a conversation about worms follows, and another earthworm is taken inside.

Worms aren't poisonous." -Caleb
There are worms that are poisonous guys. No, the red ones are poisonous. And guys, you know how you can tell if it's poisonous? If it has bright colors that means it's poisonous." -Hugh
"It doesn't have bright colors." -Tegan

"I have an idea.
We could get a fish tank."
-Caleb

"It's name is "Jumper," Caleb said while holding an earth worm found and discovered by Hugh while digging in the sandbox. Caleb quickly took to looking after the wiggly earthworm.

Jessica McMillan was standing next to Caleb watching the the worm wriggle in Caleb's palm. Then out of Caleb's hands and into the air went Jumper, landing softly and safely on the damp dirt below.
"Oh, he really does jump!" exclaimed Jessica. "That's why his name is Jumper," said Caleb.

Then he bent down and picked up Jumper again and soon the worm began wriggling again, his tail moving back and forth.
"He's waving!," said Caleb, " Look, Tommy he's waving at me and Melanie!" "Can you put him in my hand?" asked Tommy.

Soon, Cate and Lily were also adoring, Jumper, and he began to get moved around the outdoor classroom. When the consideration of where to keep him and how to keep him safe, Caleb proposed an idea, to get a fish tank, which brought to mind the aquarium used in the shop last year in the Rainey Room. Now Jumper is safe and sound in a mound of dirt in his little glass house!
