"They taste like chocolate!" - Elena

Making Peanut Butter Treats with Will and Marguerite

Will and his mom, Marguerite love making peanut butter treats together and we were delighted to have them share this with the Rainey Room today. The making of them was done in steps allowing some children to participate in mixing and others to participate in rolling up the mixture, after it had cooled and set, depending upon their interest. Cate and Dagny were interested in helping at the end: "I just hold and roll," Cate explained in reference to when she rolled clay into balls. Dagny shared, "I really want to be at the end because I'm really good at rolling balls."

Thank you so much Will and Marguerite for giving us this shared experience!  The children enjoyed every step of it!
Recipe: Peanut Butter Treats

1 cup dry oats
2/3 cup coconut flakes
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup flaxseed
1/3 cup honey
1 Tbsp chia seeds
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup chocolate chips - optional

"Mix ingredients together in large mixing bowl. Refrigitate for ~20 min for the delicious connection to harden a little. Roll into bite sized balls and enjoy. "    -Thanks Marguerite

Mystery Reader!

Abby's mom read to us today as our Mystery Reader! Abby was giddy as ever! The children were excited about all the books that Lisa brought with her to read. "Read one more!" the children cried after hearing three of the five books.
Thank you so much Lisa!

Making a Message for Mama - Cate helps Max

Max wants to make a message for his mom, Sarah, who is in bed healing from her recent back surgery.
As her first plan, Cate chose to help him make the card. Get well soon, Sarah!
