Autumn's color palette is shared with the children through a collection of leaves displayed on one of the studio tables. We were also out of mixed colors of tempera paint. So Lily, Abby, Dagny, and Elena, followed by Caleb explored the leaves in their own way as they were inspired by the fall leaves.
This morning Hugh asked, "Melanie, can I go to the Middle Room to get the baby doll we were playing with?" However, the baby doll was safe and sound wrapped in a blanket within the Rainey Room walls. Later, the baby dolls was once again loved and cared for as Vivienne, Max, Hugh, Caleb and Elena shared each other's company while playing "family." Vivienne was the mom, Max was the dad, Caleb was "the baby" but "No, the baby is the baby, you can be the nanny," retorted Vivienne. Elena was the big sister, but Hugh wanted to play too. "How about Hugh be the brother?" "Yeah, I can be the brother," confirmed Hugh. ...And they all played happily ever after!
