“I like that we got to see the neighborhood” – Vivienne
This morning Tegan, Abby, Maisie, Max, Hugh, and Vivienne were asked to reflect a little bit about their experience walking through the neighborhood. As the children began to share their thoughts it seemed that flowers, colors, and shops were popular themes for both groups:
“First we saw a pink flower shop, then purple leaves,” remembered Max. Tegan, Maisie, and Abby remembered the flowers they saw on their walk. “I saw pink flowers,” shared Tegan. “We bumped into white flowers!” added Maisie. “I liked the flowers!” Abby announced.
The children all mentioned how they saw the outside of the shops but they didn’t walk inside. “We saw 2 clothing stores but we didn’t go in,” shared Masie. “What if we went in it?” wondered Hugh, to which Max replied, “Then we’d see everything!” Perhaps next week we can visit a few shop interiors and see all their different wares!

Painting in the Rainey Room
We wanted to share a few images of the children’s paintings. They are quite complex and varied and it seems that the children enjoy working in pairs at the easle as they create various worlds through paint on paper. Today we had James and Caleb painting side by side, followed by Maisie and Will.
Maisie noted an important technique she had learned in the Brown Room for how to control the amount of paint on the brush,“What we sued to do in the Brown Room is stick the paint brush in the Jar and lick it on the edge. We slip it [the brush] on the side!”
An Impromptu Concert with the Tucker Room
“We played music together!” – Elena
Being that our studio is neighbors with the Tucker Rooms studio we were lucky to hear our Tucker friends playing instruments while we worked in the studio. The children decided to go over there and see what was going on. They immediately dove into the scene and began playing instruments alongside their neighborhood friends.
