Working on the Classroom Calendar
"How will we tell them [the days] apart?"-Cate
"And how will we know which day it is?" - Elena
Following Dagny's suggestion to color code the days, Tommy and Caleb worked together to create a color coding system for the days of the week on our calendar:
Sunday is Blue: "it should be yellow because it's the day of the sun" - Caleb
"but it's my favorite color [blue] and sunday is my favorite day!" - Tommy
Monday is Green: "because plants revive on that day and plants are green" - Tommy
Tuesday is Grey: "because lots of people go out to find gems and a stone is grey" - Tommy
Wednesday is Peach: "because it's summer when you eat peaches" - Caleb
Thursday is Red: "because a fire comes on Thursday" - Caleb
"Is Saturday the day Spring starts?" - Caleb
What month and season are we in?
"Halloween is coming after fall!" Abby
"And how will we keep them together?" - Abby
Abby and Will cut plastic sleeves to hold the numbers for the days in the month
How will we physically assemble the calendar?
Are the images, text, and numbers readable to all the children?
What else do we want to include on the calendar?
