Our First Chapel

Picture
This morning was our very first Chapel! We joined together in the church’s sanctuary with the Brown and Tucker Room children along with Marley and the Church's rector, Ginny. It is the Rainey Room’s job to ring the bell at the start of chapel and Caleb and Hugh enjoyed the first turn, ringing the bell one at a time to symbolise the start of our time together and the moment of silence. Alex and Bruno from the Tucker Room then lit the two candles, we sang some songs together, and Ginny read a special autumn book to the children.
We will have Chapel together once a month and we always invite you all to come and join us for this special time!
(does anyone know how to fix this video so it's not upside down? Allison needs tech help!)

In the Outdoor Classroom….

James’ committee worked hard on creating his story. We don’t want to ruin the surprise or give any spoiler alerts so all we will say is that it is about trucks and construction!

Enjoy these photos to get a sneak peak into some other happenings outside.

“Wow! I’ve never been here before!” - Will

As you know we have been working hard in the Rainey Room to get ready for classroom stories night! The children are so excited to have you come to the classroom and see all of the exciting things that we have been doing. We have been working on getting the shop/restaurant ready for you and last night we hung some festive lights and the children’s artwork that they created specifically for the shop.
This morning we revealed the new additions to the children when we came upstairs from the outdoor classroom and they reacted with surprise and delight!
“It looks like just a clear rainbow!” - Cate said admiring the string lights
“Where are the letters?” wondered Max, noticing that we still need to put out our sidewalk sign and he also noticed that “we have to set up the food still!”
“The puppet show is over there [in the construction area] and the lights are in the shop” said Tegan, taking note of the changes we made.
“I saw a ladder in here, that’s how you reached up there”, announced Caleb insightfully as the children wondered how we were able to hang the lights from such a high ceiling.
(and again this video is upside down here :/ help please! )
We then discussed our big plans for tomorrow. We have three important committees that will help us prepare for the night.
Our Shop Committee, Tegan, Maisie, Cate, and Abby will help set the shop.
The Baking Committee, Max, Hugh, Elena, and Caleb are going to bake chocolate chip cookies. We collected a few suggestions:
“Strawberry Cake” - Hugh
“House Cookie. You just bake them in the microwave!” - Lily
“Kitty cat cookies” - Zarina
“Chocolate Chip Cookies” - Caleb
We then took a vote and chocolate chip cookies won!
“Mommy and Daddy have a gluten allergy,” warned Caleb so hopefully we can find some gluten free flour for Kate and Andrew!
The Sign Committee, Vivienne and James will help draw up some signs for the shop and puppet show.

Big day tomorrow and we are ready!
