Picture
"This book makes me laugh!"
Elena: So this...I got this from the exhibit on, in the lego exhibit and I was on my trip, on a holiday.
Allison: Do you wanna tell everyone what it is?
Elena: this is Hugman Goes to the Museum
[shows everyone the cover]
Will: you’re showing everyone the back
Tegan: But I wanna see the back
Will: Is that the front or the back?
Allison: Would we like to see both sides?
[Children say, ‘Yes!’]
Picture
Allison: Is anyone wondering something about this book?
Maisie: Where were you on your holiday?
Elena: In Canada
Will: That’s a loooooong trip!
Cate: Canada has the Eiffel tower doesn’t it?
Elena: it doesn’t have an Eiffel tower. theres hotel rooms

Dagny asks,
"Is
that book break-able?
"

Picture
Dagny: Is that book breakable?
Elena: No
James: Well books can rip…
Elena: But this is not breakable
Cate: The pages are breakable if you tear them
Elena: I know that
Caleb: Of course, they’re paper!
Cate: Paper is breakable
Elena: I know. So, this cannot break  [tries dropping it on the floor]
Caleb: It can…it’s paper…
Elena: no this can’t
Caleb: no, that actually is paper
Elena: this is not paper
Caleb: this is cardboard and cardboard is paper
Cate: if you get it wet, then it will break
Elena: No!
Hugh: guys, guys…
Abby: But if it gets SO wet then it will break
Hugh: [Knocking on the book with his fist] Cement! Cement, right Elena?
Caleb: No, that’s not cement, that’s cardboard actually
Hugh: See that sound?
Caleb: Cardboard can make that sound
Hugh: no, it cant
Caleb: yes, it can
Hugh: it doesn’t have any smells and cardboard does have smells guys
Caleb: that’s just because they put chemicals on it.
Cate: Everything is made out of chemicals. You’re made out of chemicals!

Lily asks, "What is it about?"

Picture
Elena: it’s about paintings
Allison: What kind of paintings?
Elena: all the paintings on the wall, I can show you guys! Here are the paintings [stands up to show everyone the book]. I’ll show you more paintings. There’s a lot of paintings in here!

Tegan asks, "Where did you get it from?"

Tegan: Elena, Where did you get it from?
Elena: The lego exhibit
Will: oh, I knew that, but…
Hugh: but where?
Allison: are you wondering where inside the lego exhibit or are you wondering where the lego exhibit is?
Hugh: Where inside?
Elena: so at the end I saw trains and we got on them. Well it’s not real it’s pretend, they don’t move.
Allison: did you get the book at the gift shop?
Elena: no, at the lego exhibit, inside where the legos were. Mommy picked it out.
Picture

"Do we want to read the book maybe?"

Allison: Why did you choose to bring this book in to show us?
Elena: Because, its fun!
Hugh: because we’d be curious about the book!
Will: Wait a second! I’ve seen this face before! [pointing to the painting, “The Scream” by Edvard Munch]
Allison: You’ve seen that face before Will? Where did you see it?
Will: it was like, in a show or something…
Elena: you know where the little boy is? and he’s nowhere around…
Will: is this the little boy? [pointing to the book]
Elena: That’s Hugman silly! That’s Hugman, that’s the boy at the end!
Hugh: but nobody finds him right?
Will: I saw the little boy at the back! Let me guess, it’s that guy!
