Today, Leigh's family shared a beautiful tradition that goes back several generations. Leigh's great grandmother has made needlepoint Christmas stockings for every one of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. We learned that it takes her about two months to make each one. She demonstrated how to do a stitch, let us feel the stiff fabric and soft thread, and explained that a needlepoint needle is different than a sewing needle. The children were enthralled with Nana and her beautiful handmade stockings. Grace pointed to a beautiful girl on one of the stockings and asked, "Is that you?" It was a wonderful experience. We are grateful to Leigh's family for sharing and we'll look forward to seeing the stockings (and maybe trying needlepoint ourselves) next year! Have a wonderful weekend.
