It was a great day of color and sharing. The day began with Toniann and Sam's Birthday Committee of Sally, Margaret, Rowan and Lou Lou in Rainy Room's meadow. When the interview was over Margaret and Sally explored the message center. They started to make messages and Sally was hesitant to share the small markers. Sally: Mine Margaret: I like one. Sally: Mine. (grunts) Margaret: I need blue. (moving her hand toward the markers) Sally: Mine! (Margaret lowers her hand) Toniann: Sally, Margaret would like to make a message, too. Sally: All mine. (Sally holds the jar tightly) Toniann: Can you take one and then be a friend and pass the jar to Margaret so she can make her choice for her message? Sally: All mine. Toniann: You can start by choosing one for your message. Sally quietly looks at the jar and then slides it toward Margaret and starts looking for one. Margaret then begins to look for the color of her choice as well. Together they share the colors and the beginning of a friendship. Then in the studio we mixed colors to paint at the easel. Leigh, Lou Lou, Will, Kian and Charlie all worked energetically concocting colors. They demonstrated autonomy while Toniann and Kate gently supported their needs. They negotiated space, found & cleaned supplies and shared their color discoveries; it was joyous to be a part of it.
