sWelcome back to school and to a new year! Yesterday we reflected on our memories from the winter break and took time appreciating being reunited with our St John’s family. Today, we celebrated Grace’s birthday with her parent s and her little brother Luke. We read Sophia Valdez, Future Prez by Andrea Beaty and David Roberts (creators of Iggy Peck, Architect; Rosie Revere, Engineer; and Ada Twist, Scientist). It is about a little girl who sees garbage piling up in her community and decides to make a change, going to city hall and petitioning officials to build a playground. Thank you Grace for choosing such an inspiring and empowering story to share with the class! After singing to Grace and presenting her with her special birthday magnet, we shared a birthday snack and sang to the lady of honor again! Happy Birthday Grace! We love you to bits! Outside, Leigh and Lou Lou designed a “color shop”, modeled after Anna Banana. They invited all the children to come to draw, color and create! The shop was a huge success so Leigh decided to create a sign for the store and rebranded. The children found a patch of soft moss on the wall. Joslin said, "When your hands are cold on the shop you rub them here." Here is the Candy Cane Shop and some of the works created there.
