Today the fruit on the tree was looking ripe enough to pick, so we gave it a try. We gave it several tries, in fact.
First, Toniann helped Jossie. She was able to reach one, but couldn't pluck it off. Then Grace tried, then Jack. No luck. But Jack was not ready to give up. First he said, "We need a ladder as tall as the tree, or maybe a really tall step stool." Then when Lisa proposed that we try one more time, he said with a determined look, "Lift me up." He tugged and tugged (no photo available, since Lisa had the camera in her pocket and Jack on her shoulders), but it wouldn't budge. So they're clearly not ready to move. But how will we know when they are?
