As we adapt to our learning at a distance, we will have opportunities for children to create both on and off screen. To help children have the tools readily accessible, we hope you have some time over the next week to help your child assemble a Materials Kit. These materials should be with your children when they start small group or 1:1 calls in the coming weeks so they can illustrate, write, or construct their ideas without having to search for what they need.
Every home is different, and the materials on hand will vary, and the diversity is wonderful! Children will also have preferences for different materials, so encourage your child to include tools that best suit their expression, in addition to the basics. After gathering the materials, encourage children to personalize their box by writing their name, decorating with holes, tape, stickers, paints or drawings. Again, you don't need all the materials listed below, but try to include a managable and well rounded amount.
