In the classroom Jossie, Sally, Rowan and a few others worked on their collages: measuring, cutting, laying out and deciding on their design work. Jack, Jossie, Kian, Rowan and Grace then became involved in building train layouts. They worked together sorting out compromises of space, construction ideas, story lines and character pieces. In the studio, Louise’s birthday committee worked on sorting beautiful objects to use in her gift and made a couple of trips to the Tucker Room closet to gather more materials. Afterward, Louise and Elle created colorful easel paintings inspired by our exploration of rocks and photos we’ve taken with the digital microscope. After snack, we delivered Marley’s card and sang Happy Birthday. She was very surprised. Later in the outdoor classroom, Jack, Elle and Kian were all making food for Marley—Jack a strawberry shortcake, Elle spaghetti with meatballs, and Kian a noodle soup—when they decided to bring all their dishes together for a very special birthday dinner party. Eventually everyone joined in. Then a monster came and everyone fled, screaming. Oh well. It was still a great party. Happy Birthday, Marley!
