We have been finding different ways to explore the class’s collection from Austin’s garden. On Monday Sam and Austin sorted the artifacts into different categories: glass, rocks, wood, leaves and shells. They decided to focus on the glass (it’s not sharp, we promise), which includes pottery, milk glass, and colored glass. Austin brought scissors and some paper to the table and began to cut out pieces of paper to match the shape of the artifacts. He was not satisfied with the shapes so began tracing the object first and then cutting the paper, with better results. Instead of drawing the shard on paper, he decided to cut a small piece from the whole sheet. What were the whole artifacts before the glass broke into shards?
