There was a lot of interesting work happening in the studio this morning. So much, that everyone had the studio on their mind when making a plan at morning meeting. There was painting at the easel, stringing beads for our large sewing provocation and some ideas began to emerge from a conversation with Charlie's birthday committee. From the conversation, Kate worked with a group using liquid water colors similar to the night sky, we found out these were some of Charlie's favorite colors. They also used stencils that were reminiscent of the stars and the moon. The conversation from Charlie's Birthday Committee: Will: I think he likes trains. Elle: Do you like bunnies? Charlie: Yes. Will: Do you like horses? Charlie: No. Elle: Moons and stars in the sky? Charlie: Yes. Elle: Do you like flowers in the springtime? Charlie: Yes Elle: What’s your favorite color? Charlie: Maybe blue colors. Charlie points to paints. Like those! Elle: Charlie, do you like witches? Charlie: Yes. Elle: Peppa Pig? Charlie: Yes. That’s on TV. Leigh: Do you like milking the cow? Will: Wagons? Charlie: No. Elle: Grass Growing up? Swimming? Pumpkins? Charlie: No. Elle: Trolls? Charlie: Yes. In the big room, Louise and Austin got right to work building. They started with small plastic blocks, but quickly moved to the unit blocks to create a "Big and Tall, Criss-Cross Building". They worked together to create a building almost as tall as Austin. Soon we all became interested in being together. Friends joined Austin and Louise on a trip to Florida. We took planes, trains and automobiles to arrive at our destination. It was tricky, because we made some mistakes in our navigation along the way. During such a busy trip, Charlie was a quick and thoughtful thinker. He brought everyone a cup for coffee, water and tea. It was exciting to see so many of our friends join in the story. Everyone had a role that made the trip one to remember!
