We had a cozy group of seven today. It was the perfect way to continue our exploration of sewing in the studio. Children spent time with needle and embroidery thread and created spring-like pieces. Here's a little of what they talked about as they worked.
Jossie - You can't go around the wood. (Jossie remembered from yesterday that you can't sew around the embroidery hoop.)
Rowan - I feel something! There's his mommy right here. There's his daddy. (Rowan is identifying the stitches as people in a family.) I want orange.
Elle - Pink, then blue, then purple. Now I want to do purple. Purpley-pink.
Louise - I like blue.
Elle - I like light blue, that's why I got to light blue. I'm funny! I went out of the circle.
Louise - I got a lot of colors! I want to put it through the blue flower.
On our last school day before break, children spent time doing there favorite things. There was vehicle play, including airplanes and monster trucks. Jack even sent one his trucks to a volcano! In dramatic play, many, many cupcakes were prepared and served at a festive party.
Enjoy these images and have a great spring break. We look forward to seeing you during conferences!
