In the studio we started with a birthday committee and gathered a variety of red materials that could be added to Rowan's birthday gift. After that there was easel painting, weaving, and transforming some watercolor in the studio. Transforming previous work gives us a chance to re-visit, edit and re-evaluate what we have done before. We can add detail or different materials the second time around. Kian transformed his work into a monster.
Kian: They have eyes! Purple eyes. Papa monster! He is eating hot dogs!
Brown Room friends continue their flight exploration in dramatic play aboard a rocket ship today. There were snacks and many, many countdowns to outer space! We used telescopes to help us while we explored this unchartered territory.
While outside, we were very interested in climbing the rope ladder. It took a little encouragement and some support along the way, but the best part was getting to the top, and yelling to our friends below! We learned taking turns was important to help keep everyone's fingers safe.
Tomorrow will be a very busy day for all of us, as we welcome visiting educators to St. John's. Due an Early Childhood Educator Series (ECES) day tomorrow, there will be no journal. Stay tuned for Friday! We hope you can come to see Jill and Kate present in the afternoon!
