Molly's grandson, Oscar is turning one on March 1st. Tommy, Lily, Leo, Dru, Max, and Maeve were Oscar 's birthday committee and they made him a really fun birthday card. Max - I drew a farm, because I love animals. Do you like horses ? (To Oscar) I drew a horse, a cow, a dog, and a goat! Lily - I can write "Happy First Birthday Oscar" and I can draw a birthday cake with one candle on it Maeve - I can make a rainbow message Dru - I can make him a birthday message with lots of stickers Tommy - I can make a lot of birthday messages Max - Me too, I can make birthday messages Leo - I can draw him on my message Lily - I made him a message he can open! We are all sending Oscar lots of love for his first Birthday!
Luminaries for Table SettingThe CW children are still thinking about "Coziness" and they are very excited to create beautiful luminaries for Table Setting 
Coziness is also cross stitchingOur fervent cross stitchers are not giving up on their project! They are diligently adding rows of stitches to their perforated plastic canvas everyday.

I want to play with the "Snow House"Remember our black haunted Halloween House the children used in the Fall? This winter Lily asked if the haunted house could become a "Cozy Snow House", so we repainted it white. It has been sitting in the Middle room, but the CW children asked if they could use it! It's so cold and gray outside, this dreadful weather inspired the children to create cozy warm worlds.
Can we draw?Some of our CW children absolutely love to draw together, they are even inspiring our new Brown Room friend Leo to also draw
Cross stitching, we love cross stitching!It's taking a long time to complete a cross stitch pattern, but our CW friends are patiently working on adding stitch by stitch to create their pattern
I am making a placemat! - LilyLily made an arrangement outside on the playground that represent the four seasons, the snow is for winter, the green represent spring, the sand represent summer and the brown leaves represent fall ! Lily wants her beautiful arrangement to be printed and laminated so she can use it as a placemat! Brilliant!

   Brigitte and Melanie supported the cookie decoration station from for the hour before CW started today! Have a lovely, love-filled long weekend!I love sewing, I could do it everyday all day - Elizabeth and TheoWe have introduced a new method of sewing similar to "Cross Stitching" and the CW children have been loving it. First they mostly stitched all over the block grid canvas. Then they realized they could make straight lines if they carefully stitched in each small squares ! Nevertheless the children have been working very diligently on mastering their initial cross stitching skills.
We are making Valentines CookiesWe prepared valentines cookies for our Friday All School Valentine Party. The CW teachers will be in charge of Decorating Valentines cookies with the children. So, we were in charge of making the cookies first. Lily - It's so fun, I love making cookies. The dough is so soft Betsy - I love to squish the dough too Elizabeth - Me too, it feels so good!
Betsy, Elizabeth, Max, and Leo also helped. Can we play Dr Office ? - MaeveThe CW children have been enjoying playing Dr. Office in the dramatic play area . They really are having so much fun!  Busy day at the Dr. Office!  We are never short of sick patients nor doctors in CW!!
MONDAY: A transition day from January to our new month of February!
TUESDAY: Time for a change in table setting decorations! The novelty invites playful exploration of different materials.
  WEDNESDAY: With all the snow covering the ground outside, silver, white, and transparent materials are utilized!    THURSDAY: Attention to detail and adding decorative layers with snowflake design transparencies

 Sharing time together, exchanging knowledge and observational learning moments.  Cognition at play. The mind and the hand working hard in their communication with each other.
  An "I did it!" moment for Elizabeth.  Clay TechniquesCreating with clay while learning new techniques and expanding what we already know about the techniques. A Rainey Room clay experience was passed on to CW and Eva led the way (having been the sub in RR). The new technique was to use vinegar as slip. The slabs were a combination of red and white clay that the children drew in and added clay pieces to.
Moving forward with more clay work, we thought it would be fun to embrace something a bit "cozy" adjacent and luminaries came to mind. In essence a clay structure that would hold, reflect, or even translate light. The children were shown a few images as examples but approaching the work in application influences an expression of a learning process and originality through this. So we are now establishing our own exemplary collection of luminaries. "I'm using my hands to shape it." -Tommy  
Construction, Dramatic Play, and Small World
It takes a lot of negotiations and arguing to build and run a well functioning society! The CW children are demonstrating incredible skills at working together to achieve this.
