Table Setting and Welcome FallMonday marked the fall equinox! So we made a seasonal shift with our table setting decor. As the children continue to familiarize themselves with the table setting routine and the arrangement of materials, for the centerpieces, this will provide them with a base for increased autonomy of the daily table setting work and of the selected materials. What's in your lunch?"Can you take a picture of mine?" Betsy and Elizabeth asked. CW lunch is more than sitting to eat. It is also a variety of foods and conversation. The different foods can often spark conversation and invite connection with the food itself, with the children's appetites, and between the children. The colorful assortment of food also adds dimension to the lunch table! Fall Festive WorkHave a marvelous weekend and enjoy the fall splendor!

Experiences, relationships, connections, and environment dictate which brain circuits get more use and eventually get stronger. We are witnessing all these beautiful friendships forming as we sit together to eat lunch. Sharing anecdotes, stories (and what food we have in common in our lunch) truly make us feel closer to each others. So, the CW children are happily making new ones! How do we make Finials?First, the children decorate a slab of clay by drawing on it, using stamps, or using tools to make marks After decorating her piece of clay slab, Lily uses the "scratch and slip" method to securely form a cylinder and Et Voila! Lily made a finial "Can I draw on clay? " - Elizabeth We have noticed that some CW children love spending time drawing, so why not draw on clay?
Getting to know CW days, one day at a time...During our Afternoon meeting on Tuesday, some of the children who are new to CW, took interest the CW Attendance schedule and Table Setter rotation schedule. They spent some time locating their own picture on the schedule and identifying other children. They were interested about who was table setter and the "today" sign and heart symbol were explained as representing the current CW day. Returning children support new children in the process of table setting while two new friends learn the process together or two returning children work through the process in partnership, while adapting to the slight changes from last year. See you back here next week and have a fun-filled weekend! We are all settling in and having fun in CW!We are very please to share that all our CW friends have settled into their new CW routine. Theo said " I am not crying anymore because CW is Fun!" and we feel like everyone is agreeing with Theo. All the CW children gathered in the middle room at 12.25 pm and we have our "Afternoon" meeting, where we talked about our afternoon plans and most important who are table setters? and what are the table setters' roles? After our afternoon meeting, we all go outside for about 30 minutes, so the Tucker Room Teachers, Tate and Emma, have a chance to organize and reflect. Then we all go back up stairs to wash hands and gather in the Tucker room for lunch. While the two designated table setters take care of the table, we read a story. Then, the table setters invite us to find a spot at the table. After lunch, we all gather for a brief meeting to go over the plans This week, our choices are; drawing a self portrait for our CW portfolio, work with Melanie on the CW Hallway documentation, play Small World, read books, message center, color. The "flow of the day" schedule can be found to the left of the CW Attendance/Table Setting board, along with our table setting rotation schedule, and a monthly calendar. Invite your children to verbally walk you through the flow of the day, talk about the who is in CW with them, or about table setting, or any other part of the CW day.
