We started our day in the outdoor classroom. Friends enjoyed playing "My Little Pony" together as well as challenging themselves by reaching new heights as they climbed the persimmon tree. Prater and Grace worked on hand sewings; each creating adorned dresses for their dolls to wear. Once we moved inside, provocations were offered to continue ongoing reflections of our canal water sample as well as the Artechouse field trip. Prater and Willa examined a new water sample from the canal under the digital microscope and represented their interpretations on the light table. Prater: I'm making lots of little wormies! Willa: I saw all of this (what she drew) in the computer. We're making magic - GraceOther friends experimented with color mixing on the projector screen. Using oil, water, and liquid watercolors, children tested different combinations and their reactions. This is reminiscent of the color room we experienced at the Artechouse last Friday. Lila: It looks like slime, but it's watery. Grace: I see magic on the bottom. It's sparkly. Ellee: It looks like orange magic. Lila: It looks like fire. Cassius: My brush under here (the water) is turning blue. Ellee: Tomorrow we can test it to see if it's a perfect recipe for magic. Rose: This recipe is called witches mess. We plan on revisiting this experience next week with different ingredients on the projector screen. Enjoy the slideshow from today!
