Outdoor Classroom Day!

​Today, we spent most of our time outside to allow the visiting educators to spend time with the wonderful work and teachers in the Tucker Room.  

We Planted Marigolds in the Flower Box...

We Brought Ice to the Sandbox...

    Saul - (Stacking the pieces of ice) We're making pancakes, with sprinkles (sand)!
    Remy - The pancakes are ready!
    Saul - When you put the ice in water, it gets shiny again.
    Jade - Would you like to come to the glass store? (Indicating that the ice get more clear as it melts.)
​    Mimi - I'm going to watch the ice melt.

Indoor/Outdoor Experiences

This week, we worked on our books and a weaving both inside and outside.  While reflecting on the book writing and illustrating the books:
​       Jade - When I drawed the pictures (for her book), it looked real.  It was coming to life in my book and my brain. 

Indoor Small Worlds

The children's interest in small WORLDS continued, both at the round table and at the light table.

Mimi and Louisa wanted a selection of animals at the light table.  They specifically requested horses, dinosaurs and unicorns.  The addition of these animals led to building homes and forming families.
   Louisa - I built this house.  I helped Zari build her house, too.
​   Zari - There's  so many children! We need some babysitters for all these children.
Later, a storm came along and destroyed the houses that Ford and Louisa were using.  The photo on the right show the devastation after the storm!
