Continuing with Collage

We started the week with more collages.  Once again, we can consider these principles of design that are evident in the work.  For example:

Balance - A way of combining elements to add a feeling of equilibrium or stability to the composition.  Balance can be either symmetrical or asymmetrical.
Emphasis or Contrast - A way of combining elements to stress the differences between those elements.
Proportion - A principle of design that refers to the relationship of certain elements to the whole  and to each other.
Harmony - A way of combining similar elements in an artwork to accent their similarities.
Variety - An element of design that is concerned with diversity or contrast (e.g. different shapes, sizes, textures, colors, etc.)

The theme for Wilder's collage was "Nature."

Jade said, "It's Christmas for these animals."

Finlay included shiny elements and jewels (and legos!) for the Pharaohs in his collage.

Cape was excited to include African animals in his collage.

Hugh wanted to include "cool cars" in his collage. He enjoyed perching himself on the roof of one!

Michael's theme was "Outside Stuff."

Frannie added to her collage. She said, "My collage is about dogs. I put the ice cream on because ice cream makes me happy."

Remy added trees to her "Silly Town" collage.

Building Big!

" We're going to need a ladder."      Hugh                

The ladder was necessary as children built well above their heads yesterday.  The building featured a series of secret doors for making escapes!

The Return of Small World!

Snorty, Stingray, and all their friends were back in action today.  The teddy bears hosted a holiday celebration!
