Many thanks to the families who joined us for the slide show this morning, and an extra-special thanks for the awesome collaborative gift! We loved reading the wishes the children had made and we started thinking about the best use of our own personal wishing rocks. In the afternoon, we had some outdoor play with sewing on offer. After lunch, we worked on Caps' rally posters, completed puzzles and games, and played with salt dough! We ended the day with rainbow melon popsicles that were made yesterday! Enjoy these images and GO CAPS! "Every season is different" LucyThis was our last KW Friday and our last field trip. During the week, children have made gifts for the ducks from clay and other natural materials. Today we hauled the gifts down to the canal to present them to the ducks. The canal looked so different! The plants in and along the canal had grown much taller. We walked to where we usually found ducks and ducklings, but saw only one solo duck. Still, we left our gifts along the banks of the canal, convinced that our ducks could find them. As we headed back, a woman along the canal told us that ducks could be found on the other side of the bridge. She was right! We saw our young ducks, some new baby ducklings, and even a baby goose! We were thrilled to see them, and to make wishes for them one last time. As Hadley said, "This has to go in the blog!" Enjoy these images and have a great long weekend! A great day for clay and outdoor play!
Children also worked with bamboo. We saw their collaborative nature in this experience as well. As children learned a new technique with the digital drawing tool, they were eager to share these new skills with their friends. Several children added text to their creations today. Mandalas, drawing, and books were also part of our afternoon. Enjoy these images and have a great weekend! Rain, Rain Go Away . . .Despite the rainy weather outside this afternoon, we had a wonderfully fun and busy day in the indoor classroom. After lunch there were a variety of provocations on offer. Knowing Carl's love of hockey and the Caps, friends were invited to create poster-size collages for game 3 tonight from newspaper clippings and printed images. Hopefully these will be the good luck they need for another win! Some children painted the DAS clay duck eggs that were made on Tuesday. Other friends made mango popsicles (to enjoy tomorrow as a Friday treat) and also concocted a batch of salt dough. They enjoyed using the dough for dramatic play today, pretending they were on the British Baking Show!
We also managed to get outside for awhile today, in spite of the rain. While outside, Cassius, Jay, and Carl formed a boy band that performed songs like "Mario," and "St. Albans." Willa and Prater used the animals to act out a versions of the lion king. There was a lot of "cooking," including making poisons for the teachers.... seems like that never gets old. Some sort of trap was created behind the bushes, and many tricks were performed on the climber. A good time was had by all!
