KW Name Change:
The Journey Continues

Last Friday, we shared conversations about the new name for KW.    We noticed that Jade indicated that the ideas of Rainey Room children were important as they would be the senior members of our afternoon program.  With this in mind, we asked Jade to assist with a small group of Rainey Room children.
Jade -We should ask the Rainey Room what they think.  So, guys, what do you want to call KW?
Ford - Harry Potter KW for baby goats.
Jade - I don't think the (current) Brown Room children would like that.  I don't think Adaline or Cully would like those things.
Ford - I have one... it's a little bit funny at the end.  K. E. P. C.  Boom.  (Ford lists letters, because he understands that we use initials when we say "KW.")
Ellie - Eating Lunch and Going to Bed.  Or  Eating Lunch and Playing (as possible names).
     Mimi - Ring Workshop.
Jill - Some of these names are a little silly. Why are you choosing silly names?
Mimi - Because we like silly names!

We brought small groups to the documentation to remind us of all the possibilities we had previously suggested.  children clearly remembered the fun choices, such as Louisa's "Strawberry Pineapple Smiley Face."
Cal - I like Stinky Workshop.   I like Pikachu Workshop.
Bailee - I like Puppy Workshop.
Seon - I'm thinking.... Workshop Kids.  (Seon plays with the current name by reversing the words!)

One constant has been the word "Workshop."  Perhaps we can use this base to build a new name:
Hugh - What about AW?  (Referring to Afternoon workshop)
Ford - We already said "AW" (for Afternoon Workshop). But people will get confused and just say "KW."  (Because the names sound so similar.
Hugh - I think they will get it right.
     Ellie - I like Children's Workshop.
Ford - Why do we need a new name for KW anyway?
Jill - Because we really don't use the word "Kids" at this school.
Cate - Would people really think are baby goats?
We may be getting closer to a new name.  We'll keep you posted!

Bookmaking and a Guest Reader!

Children have not exhausted their enthusiasm or ideas for story creation.  Some children have three books in the works!  Today was extra-specials Molly spent time reading these books.

After Molly read, the group reflected on some of the stories.
Saul - It was funny when Pikuchu was stuck in the chimney. (In Cate's book)
Hugh - Cate's book and my book both have a cave and Pikuchu.
Brigitte - What are some things you need for a good book?
Finlay - The way to make a good book is to have a good brain and good ideas.
    Cate - And Pikachu.
    Finlay - And action.

This and that....

This week has been full of outdoor fun, light table environments, using our small muscles to string the tiniest beads. and small world.
Enjoy these images and have a wonderful weekend!
