Field Trip and Sharing Exciting NewsIt’s been a while since we’ve taken a field trip in KW. So we thought we’d take advantage of the more mild temperatures, get outside, and explore our community. Today we ventured down to the canal. Some highlights include: -Discovering four ducks on the canal (we hadn't seen them in recent visits) -Feeding the ducks -Maren was excited to go as far down the canal as her sister Lily had previously -Climbing the brick columns -Having an ice cream treat at the end of lunch leftover from Jack's birthday celebration Enjoy these photos from our adventure!A little news from yesterday you may have heard about...
Grace M.: "Because Sam's getting a baby." Grace D. "And me too." Lou Lou: "Because we learn some Spanish." The children began guessing other children in the room might be getting a new baby in their family. Then we prompted them, asking who in the room might have a baby in their belly. Evelyn: "I will have a baby in my belly, maybe when I'm five." Lou Lou (looking at Jessica): "You!" Jessica: "Yes." Grace D.: "For real life?" Lou Lou: "Really?" Grace M.: "Do you have a big belly?" Jessica showed the children her belly is starting to grow. Jack: "Do you have a baby in your tummy?" (One of the children): "Can we see it?" and "When can we see it?" Jessica: "It should be here right about the end of the school year." Lou Lou: "Is the baby going to have a little...(turning to the page in the book with the illustration of the baby)...is it going to look like that?" Grace D.: "Is it going to be a boy or girl?" Jessica: "I don't know. It will be a surprise." (One child): "Can you tell us when you know?" Lane: "Can you please put a picture (of the baby) in your room?" (Possibly in the room at school?) Grace M.: "What will you name it?" Jessica: "I don't know yet. Do you have any ideas?" Lane: "Lollipop...Rainbow." Lou Lou: "Valentina." Sally: "Linda." (pronounced Leen-dah) Sam: "If it's a boy, you should name it Sam." So that's the exciting news! We continued on the topic today with Jill reading another book about a family that receives a new baby. As we talk together, children share experiences from their lives and ask questions such as the one above. Those who have younger siblings have been sharing about the changes of having a new baby in the home, sibling relationships, and other family or baby experiences. We plan to continue discussing as the children are interested, especially focused on our shared experiences and both Grace D's. and Sam's anticipated younger siblings! We wish you a wonderful weekend and look forward to another great week in KW next week!
