Friday, May 18th

What a fun Friday!  We were so busy that we almost forgot to eat the popsicles that we made yesterday!  Luckily, we got got to them right before dismissal.  This morning, Tucker Room had set ups a restaurant,  Knowing how much the children enjoyed working with the slat dough yesterday, we brought it back with the restaurant props.  This resulted in children using their imaginations and collaboration capacities for an extended period of time.  Here's a little bit of the ideas they shared as they worked with the dough:
   Grace - This restaurant makes peanut butter, and pizza, and tomatoes.
    Vivienne - I'm making waffles.
    Max - This (dough) feels kind go funny.... and funky.
  Hadley - (scooping the dough into a bowl)  This is yogurt....no, ice cream.  This is four scoops of ice cream.
     Max - I'm making waffles.
   Hugh - I'm making pizza.  It takes a long time to make pizza.
      Vivienne - We're a whole bakery.
      Prater - I'm making a cupcake.
      Hadley - I'm making unicorn glitter.
     Ellee - I'm making unicorn cookies.  It's a special recipe.  It's called "Unicorn Treats."
     

   

Children also worked with bamboo.  We saw their collaborative nature in this experience as well.  As children learned a new technique with the digital drawing tool, they were eager to share these new skills with their friends.  Several children added text to their creations today.  Mandalas, drawing, and books were also part of our afternoon.  Enjoy these images and have a great weekend!
