Leaning in to Lunch! It's been a wonderful first week in KW! Some children have identified having lunch together as their favorite part of their time together. Preparing for lunch is fun, as two children each day serve as the table setters. While there are clearly elements of design involved in this process, the children are also learning important concepts. There's a lot of math in the experience: counting the children, counting the chairs, and one-to-one correspondence as they put a place card at each seat. Social considerations are also present as children often choose to sit friends next to each other. In addition, children also select "decorations" according to their preferences and the preferences of their classmates. It seems so simple, but there's a lot going on in this daily routine! Here's a look at this week's table setters.
A quick look at other experiences...This is a group that loves puzzles, games, messages, and building! Check out the lego rainbow on the light table! A Friday Field Trip!Neighborhood walks have long been a feature of the KW program. Today we had a smaller group of children so it seemed like the perfect day to go to Volta Park. Volta Park is familiar to the children, but they enjoyed being there as a group. Enjoy these images and have a great weekend!
