Collaborative Construction

What could be better on a rainy day that bringing in the blocks to build big again. Today the focus was on symmetry, as Lochie coached his friends into making building the same way on tow opposing walls.
   Lochie - It's a pattern.
   C.C. - It's small block, long block, small block, long block.
   Lochie - Wait, how many are on your side?
   C.C. and Sylvie - I, 2, 3, 4, 5.
Lochie counts to make sure he has five levels on his side as well.

A building began, Jack expressed a desire to build his own building. Although he started out working by himself, other joined him later. Eventually his hollow block home included a kitty zone, a kitty room, and a road leading to it.

Plenty of Printing

Children implemented a new printing process known as dendritic printing today. Printer's ink or paint is pressed between two sheets of glass until it spreads. When the glass is separated, a print is made from each piece of glass. Sometimes, the resulting prints looks like dendrites (or veins or seaweed, according to the Rainey Room). Some children developed their own ideas.

George - It looks like a flag.

Nora - I made three. On one, I used blue, green, and yellow and it looked like the sea.

This and that....

We filled the rest of our afternoon with stories, messages, puzzles, building princess castles at the light table, and several exciting rounds of high card!
