Today in KW, we reflected on an experience that we shared together at the Canal last week. We were so surprised when we stumbled upon a blue heron under the second bridge along the canal. Today children were invited to paint the bird using liquid and palette watercolors. We asked them to trace an outline of the heron first before incorporating the watercolor. Children paid such close attention to details like the heron's long neck and legs, orange beak, as well as his muted green-blue color. Wire and beading materials were also on offer this afternoon. Children loved using the letter beads to spell their names as well as some mommy's names too! Fun playing Guess Who and digging holes and making cakes in the sand area was had as well!
