Map Making

On Tuesday, children began working on maps showing where in the school the guardians are located.  Cate and Finlay chose to work on individual maps, while Jade, Hugh, Wilder and Cape all worked together.
Before dismissal, they reflected on their work:
Cape - I did little arrows to tell you where to go.
   Finlay - It's a creepy map.
Cate - Because of the creepy stairs.
    Jade - There's different rooms.
Jill - I've noticed that the maps are different.  do you think you have all the rooms on them?
    Wilder - We have everything!

Continued Clay Work

"I remember making the pinch pot"

We heard this from several children as they added glaze to their clay creations on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Dinner Drawings

Children have been very invested in drawing their families eating together.  As we have mentioned, there are several challenges any time they represent a three-dimensional idea in two dimensions.  Here's some of Wednesday's work!
Picture
Cate's drawing features some people in profile while others are facing forward. She also included the dog in her dinner drawing.
Picture
Hugh included a new point of view in his drawing. He realized that if you look at the table from the living room, you would see everyone's back.
Picture
Remy drew the table and the carpet around it. Afterwards she laughed as she observed that her drawing of dinner looks like a volcano.
Picture
This is one of Ellie's first representational drawings. She drew her mom at the top of the page and said, "Mommy looks like a puppy."
Picture
Wilder drew a bird's-eye view of his dinner table. He drew a tall high chair for Maeve.
Picture
Finlay drew two people sitting on each side of the table.
Thanks to the families who met with us during the conference days!  Have a wonderful weekend!
