It's Lou Lou and Tegan day! Thursdays are a small group at this point . Tegan and Lou Lou get a lot of work done on Thursdays and today was no exception. We spent time visiting Molly's office, and she showed us her secret treasure compartment. We took time to admire the family collages. However, the children individually took on challenging work today.
Lou Lou and Drawing We asked the children if they could represent things we have done in KW with materials. Lou Lou decided that she could draw children doing yoga. She implemented several strategies as she worked. She used the wooden human figures and mirrors to think about how the drawing should look. At one, point, she asked Tegan to pose for her. As she drew, Lou Lou paid a lot of attention to the dresses she and Tegan were wearing. After a few drafts, Lou Lou had a drawing that she felt worked, for the most part. At this point, she realized that she could just cut away the parts that she didn't want. With this solution, she arrived at a yoga drawing that was up to her standards!
Tegan and Sewing Tegan decided to use hand sewing to portray the lunch table. After three long stitches, the table was complete. She wanted to do more and came up with the idea of adding her green lunch box. Independently, she figured out that she had to make small stitches to represent the curved handle. When the shape of the lunchbox was complete, Tegan began using longer embroidery stitching to fill in the lunch box. It took time and persistence, but Tegan completed the process today!
Sorry about the sideways work photos! It's a glitch we have not yet figured out!
