Wednesday, May 16th

Today the KW children had a viewing of our first stop-motion movie, "The Girl-Power Duck."  As she watched, Hadley repeatedly said, "How did you do that?"  Tegan, Max, and Vivienne worked together today to create "The Duck Family."   The story line goes something like this:  a girl and boy duck get married and have a baby duck.  The duck baby falls asleep for ten days, but is magically woken up by his mommy's kiss."  As was mentioned yesterday, it takes a good deal of collaboration to work on these productions.  Children develop a story line, set the scene with props and materials, move the  "characters" through the story, and take photos.  Today children also saw more of how it all comes together on the computer.  Working together like this allows children to play to their strengths.  For example, Max was very involved in set design today.   We will continue to work on these stories until everyone has a chance to contribute to a "movie."

We also managed to get outside for awhile today, in spite of the rain.  While outside, Cassius, Jay, and Carl formed a boy band that performed songs like "Mario," and "St. Albans."  Willa  and Prater used the animals to act out a versions of the lion king.  There was a lot of "cooking," including making poisons for the teachers.... seems like that never gets old.  Some sort of trap was created behind the bushes, and many tricks were performed on the climber.  A good time was had by all!
