Wednesday, October 25th

​We took another look at the canal water with the digital microscope today.  Children were excited to see moving microorganisms and Vivienne, Hadley, and Willa made drawings of the things they saw.  
While checking out the image:
   Hadley - It's amazing, oh my gosh.  There's a little animal.
   Ellee - Told ya there was a worm in there.
   Hadley - He's squirming somewhere in there. 
   Ellee - Maybe it a worm from yesterday,
  Hadley - Let me disguise some more.  There's a lot of animals in there.  I see a fishy, he's swimming around.  It looks like a lobster!   (To Willa) I'm doing samples.  We're making discoveries.  Really, look at it.  I discovered something.  Hi, wormy!
    Willa - (While drawing) Those are the balls that float and this is the ball that can't float.
  Vivienne - I'm drawing a worm and he's smiling.  And here's the daddy worm.    The mommy worm died.  
    Hadley - What are those tiny little dots?
    Vivienne - Dirt or sand.  I find a lot of worms in the bad boy park.  It's in Paris. 
          

   

We also left canal water to dry on heavy paper.  In a few days we will examine the sediment.

In the construction area, we projected the canal water onto the shadow screen.  This provided a backdrop for building.  Some children worked on a castle in the water, while Max built a bridge over the canal.
