"It's a Christmas tree. No, it's an everything tree!" Frannie
Throughout the school, children have been diligently working on the centerpieces for the Book Fair display tables. KW worked on centerpieces for Rhythm, Joy, and Traditions. In each case, we started with a conversation about these abstract concepts. From there, children worked with materials to represent these ideas. Frannie made the above comment as she spent almost all morning working on our traditions contribution.
Halloween in the Neighborhood!
We took another walk through the neighborhood on Tuesday. We admired the silly and scary Halloween decorations that we found on our way to Volta Park. Once at the park, we were happy to run into some St. John's friends, just like we did on Friday. We also noticed children challenging themselves by trying new physical feats. A big "thank you" goes out to Ali and Alicia who volunteered to walk with us and made this trip possible!
Collage and Clay
Today's materials experiences included collage and clay. Now that our table runners are complete, we will be making clay vases and pinch pots for the additional table setting possibilities. We will be working with clay all week, so you will be able to read more about it in Friday's blog.
