Day 3Exploring Paint

Exploring Our Environment

What a wonderful second day! Some children had the chance to explore the environment for the first time, while others returned to materials and experiences they enjoyed yesterday. Similar to yesterday, our main intention was to begin building relationships between the children and ourselves. These relationships and trust will carry us through a plethora of provocations as the year continues. Summer Memories With more summer memories coming in, our shelf is beginning to fill up! Cal and Isabelle shared with us some of their summer memorabilia. Isabelle shared a pink teapot she enjoyed playing with over the summer, and let us know that "Mickey cup house is my house". "A rock from the beach! It was in the sand! I caught a fish. I caught it with my net!" - Cal Construction While yesterday the focus of construction was tall traps and towers, today the children took time with smaller materials building houses and other structures. Particular attention was paid to seashells and tiny bricks, each of which Seon incorporated into her arrangement. Outdoor Classroom Several children enjoyed using the sand as a stand in for all kinds of delicious delicatessens. Ellie, Isabelle, Fay, Louisa and Cal sat down to share a nice meal of pancakes, cake and ice cubes before the day ended! The Outdoor ClassroomIt’s Friday, which means “Backwards Day” for the Brown Room. On "Backwards Day," we start our day in the outdoor classroom. It was a crisp and sunny early fall morning with a light breeze. The easel, climbing structures, the slide and the sandpit were very busy today. Ellie and Ragnar |
