Paint Mixing Day!

Today in Connections we had a fun filled day complete with paint mixing and water day!

This morning, we started off with morning meeting introducing our provocation for today: paint mixing! We also continued our provocation from yesterday, which was plaster collages. 

"I wanna paint!" -Ellie
​"I'm going to make pink and purple" -Lily

In the paint mixing area, our friends explored how primary colors (red, yellow, and blue) turned into secondary colors or tertiary colors. They also explored how if all three are mixed, they turn brown. We also played with tone, adding black or white to make a color deeper or lighter. 

"It looks like ketchup. Ketchup and mustard!" -Ellie after mixing yellow and red on the paint pallet. 

 "I'm adding yellow! It's turning green..." -Mack after adding yellow to his blue paint mixture

After our provocations, we went outside for water day! We had so much fun enjoying Orbeez, water balloons, and the sprinkler. 

"But how does it dry?" -Ragnar on how his creation dried overnight 

After water day, we went into our afternoon plans, which included painting our papier-mâché creations! We used our techniques from earlier in the day to mix paints to create custom colors for our creations. 

At the end of the day, Elena brung us a treat to end camp with: veggie straws! Tomorrow is the last day of Session 1, and we will be sending home all artwork and tangible projects tomorrow so please remember to send an extra bag or tote to camp!
