Pod B... Wrapping Paper Printing

Pod B has been working with printing between pieces of glass.  Today our printing involved bubble wrap and rolling pins to create Christmas wrapping paper.  Nora commented, "It looks like corn on the cob."

Outside, the sun was shining for one full hour of glorious playtime!  We played hide and seek and navigated the obstacle course.  There was also a collection of natural materials that became "stone soup".  Lane said, "It's stone soup.  There's no vegetables, there's only nature.  That's why we call it stone soup."

Pod A.... Wrapping Paper Stamping

Much like Pod B, we're creating Christmas wrapping paper, but with a different technique.  Each child created their own stamp using styrofoam, which we adhered to a block.  Children applied a thin layer of tempera paint to the surface of the styrofoam and created a pattern of their choosing.

Below is a slideshow of a couple other fun activities from our day including:

• Playing Connect Four and discussing strategies (preventing your opponent from getting 4 in a row while also simultaneously trying to put your own chips in a row)
• Playing at the light table.  Oliver and Andy said they were "scientists" making "potions"

The plan is simple: to reconnect with each other and prepare collage materials for children.  So grab a magazine from home and be ready to cut out some exciting images.  Feel free to grab a glass of wine or some hot chocolate, too.
