At meeting, teachers asked the group, especially those who have already made pizza this week: what are the steps and ingredients to make a pizza?
Alexandra: Tomato sauce.
Emilia: Dough.

(Brooke asks what we do with the dough.)
Grace: Pat it.
Ada: We roll it.  I kind of push my hands in my clay at home.

(Brooke reminds us of more important parts of the process, like putting it in the oven.  What are some other steps?)
Alexandra: Cheese.
Ada: Wait, I love cheese!
Emilia: Tomato sauce.

(Brooke asks what other ingredients we put on the pizza.)
Ada: Macaroni... NO, just teasing.
Alexandra: Salami. ... I put orange peppers on mine.

(Melanie says we talked to Wolf in Kenya and he said he likes mushrooms... Does he perhaps  like mushrooms on his pizza?)
Ada: Hey mama likes mushrooms!
Oliver: I like some mushrooms.  I like some tomatoes.
Grace: (Raises hand) I like it!

(We begin to discuss what else we like on top of pizza)
Oliver:  Chili on pizza.  Some carrots!  I like some garlic.  And macaroni and cheese!

DRAWING Kitchen Implements
As a follow up to the tour of the kitchen we did a few weeks ago, we experimented with drawing some of the tools we've seen in the church kitchen.  Some objects we drew inspiration from: a spatula, a colander, a large pot, and a whisk.

Each child chose objects from the kitchen they wanted to draw.  Below, see Emilia and Alexandra's interpretations of a colander.

Today was our first Valentine's Day for delivering messages!  We asked the children after snack: WHY do we send messages to each other in paper bags on Valentine's Day?
Ada: It's about sharing.
Emilia: It's about passing out sweets!
Lane: Or cookies!
Emilia: Cookies are sweet.
Melanie: Why do we pass out sweets to our friends?
Ada: Because we love them.
