Today was a preparation day for the pancake breakfast! In the studio, one group began making pancakes and the other began cutting the fruit for fruit salad.  Captions are below.

Cannon and Eliza add a couple tablespoons of sugar.

We unanimously liked the smell of the melted butter

Fletcher bends down his head to listen to the sound of the sizzling and frying of the batter.

What does this pancake look like? "A whale" says Grace. "A seal" says Cannon. "A duck" says Maren. "A trout" says Alexandra.

Fletcher poured this one out and said, "It's a rectangle!"

After we read the recipe together, Maren looks through the measuring spoons to find the teaspoon.

Grace carefully pats down flour into the measuring cup to make sure we have the right amount.

Eliza and Alexandra use the spatula to peek underneath the pancakes to see if they are ready.

Alexandra uses the tablespoon to scoop some melted butter into the bowl.

We begin scooping the batter out onto the griddle (Thank you to the Rodriguez family for letting us use this AWESOME electric griddle)

What’s happening on the top of the pancakes? Cannon said, "It’s dripping, it’s making a mess." Alexandra said, "Bubbling."

This pancake by Olivia looks like an "O"!

It was so satisfying to see the pancake successfully flip over.

We talked about safety before turning on the griddle, and not touching the surface of the griddle. When Molly stopped by, she and the children noticed how you can feel the heat from up above.
