Happy School Birthday Gigi!Gigi's 5th birthday was on December 30th and today we celebrated it at school! Gigi was keen to open her present first. Pod A made her a beautiful pot, incorporating all her favorite colors and cheetahs, her favorite animal. After admiring the gift and card, Gigi walked around the candle and we sang happy birthday. At snack the children enjoyed cookies and Gigi brought the book, The Moonglow Roll-O-Rama, that the children from Pod B enjoyed. She also got to be the door holder for her Pod today. And while they were outside for Backwards Day, Pod B planted daffodil bulbs that had been donated by Gig's family! Even though her birthday was over 2 weeks ago, her celebration at school was quite special. CollageCollage work continued in both rooms today. All the children who hadn't had a turn yesterday, created collages today. Other children expanded on their collages from yesterday or started new ones. POD B Today, Cannon worked on his collage from start to finish. He selected more images, which in large part reflected his love of animals. He chose a blue base and decided to put green at the bottom to represent land. Some of his images were too large for the base, so he cut them to size. The gorilla was especially big, so Cannon used the gorilla’s head. He later cut out bananas which he placed in the gorilla’s mouth. He he showed great care in creating a habitat for his animals. His final touch was adding a tree. POD A Here are some quotes from the collage work. Dakota: The glue is like icing. Andy: I cannot wait to decide by myself. (Aida finds more images that she wants to use) Aida: But there isn't any more room. Maren: You could do what I did, you could add another cardboard. Reflecting on her work, Maren noted: I can't believe my crab went all of those places! Pod A also had a Mystery Reader today! Thanks to Negar and Adam for reading Chicken Goes to Space, Waiting Is Hard To Do and Duck On A Bike.
