We want to give a warm welcome to our friend Alexandra who had her first official day in the Brown Room today!  We're so glad you're joining us, Alexandra.
Chatting About Our Families
During school, we have been going in small groups to visit our family collages in the hall.  Teachers and staff are interested in gathering ideas from the children about the concept of family.

Cannon: "Mommy, daddy and Cannon. One, two, three."

Brooke asks about Leigh, or "Leelee", and if she is also in his family.

Cannon: No, she’s my cousin.

Cannon noticed the same peacock printed paper that was on his family collage was also on Ellie's family collage.

Cannon: There’s another peacock.

(He continued looking at the collages)

Cannon: But this Maren’s sister.

Brooke: When you think about family, who do you think about?
Grace: Mommy.
Lane: Daddy.
Brooke: Who else is in your family?
Grace: My dad.... my grandfather.
Lane: Grandy.
Grace: I have Lilly.

Brooke: We’re gonna go look at some of the different collages that the families made. Your family made one.
Grace: My family made one?
Brooke: Yeah! So here they all are. Can you see any of the friends from our class?
Lane: Yeah, Wolf is from my class.
Brooke: Do we know this friend? (pointing to Evelyn's collage)
Lane: He’s kissing Evelyn.
Brooke:That’s Evelyn and her brother.  (Pointing to Lane's collage) Lane, who is on there?

Lane: Marguerite and William.
Brooke: And who’s Marguerite holding?
Lane: Me.
Brooke:  And who’s William holding?
Lane: My sister, little, tiny brother, Will.
Brooke: Grace, I can see your collage way up here. Who’s that, Grace?
Grace: My mom and my dad and Lilly.
(Brooke takes collages off wall)
Lane: Oh that’s when Will [was] turning….he’s a big boy.
Grace: My mom made this.
Lane: And my daddy made this for me.
Brooke: So, Lane what do you see on yours? What’s on your collage?
Lane: That’s pink (pointing)
(Brooke points to a G stamp on Grace's collage)
Grace: For Grace, for Grace.

Photo Albums

Speaking of family - our photo albums have been a huge help as children are making connections and developing friendships.  As an example, we had a visitor today: a St. John's alum named Ellee.  Emilia knows Ellee through her older brother Alex, and was thrilled to see her.  She exuberantly brought Ellee over to see her photo album.
What else were we up to today?
